film ed: mutiny on the bounty (1935)

this classic is far more realistic than many modern films. i really appreciate they way none of the characters were purely good or purely evil. while you hate captain bligh throughout the film, you have to respect him for the way he navigated the small boat after the mutiny. and while fletcher christian seems to be a decent guy, he seems to have jumped the gun a little bit with his mutiny. there are no easy answers in this remarkably accurate take on the events of 1789. a young clark gable and charles laughton are superb in their roles as christian and bligh, respectively. and clark gable without a moustache is a dead ringer for george clooney. just look above to see what i mean.
